Abstract

The role of the university teacher is influenced by virtual education, the same that due to technology influences traditional pedagogy, that is why it was proposed as a general objective to describe the teacher's perception of virtual education and environmental literacy, being this last concept directed to the student, in his performance as protagonist of the sustainability of the resources. The methodology used is the positivist paradigm, quantitative approach, non-experimental design and descriptive type. A questionnaire was applied to 39 university professors from the Piura Region - Peru. As a result, 86% of the participants considered that virtual education contributes to the environmental training of the student, guaranteeing the sustainability of resources, prioritizing the well-being and health of the population. It was concluded that environmental literacy is the prerequisite for incorporating guidelines or directives related to environmental education and Information and Communication Technologies - ICTs transform the perception of university teachers towards innovation and creation in virtual classrooms.
