The study aimed to measure the effectiveness of an educational intervention program for self-care in the elderly, an explanatory experimental study in a population of 65% (268) female and 35% (142) male, belonging to the adult club of the health units in two groups, the SABE 2009 instrument was used, the analysis was carried out with the SPSS 22 program, and to measure the educationalintervention, Levene's test was used, and ANOVA, in its results 71% (292 ) with primary studies, and in the pre-test instrument 132 and in the post-test,000 in which it is shown that the educational intervention in self-care was effective, these results will serve for future research and create strategic measures in order to increase of this population, as commitments of professional nurses.Keywords: Self-care, primary care, elderly, nurse.
