Abstract

The main ocular manifestations were stratified and identified because of Toxoplasma gondii, through a documentary study of twenty-nine essential documents for this analysis in indexed scientific journals of the last 5 years; The information collected on congenital chorioretinitis was analyzed. It turns out that in addition to viral causes such as cytomegalovirus 20% and herpes simplex 1-2 in 15% congenital invasion of the Toxoplasma gondii protozoan is the most frequent with 65% of cases. The eye conditions present correspond to the anterior uveitis with 60%, followed by the posterior uveitis with 15%, and intermediate uveitis 5%. Chorioretinitis is the most common cause of posterior uveitis, and one of the main conditions of congenital toxoplasmosis, the severity of the injury will depend on the gestational stage in which the pregnant woman is, it is estimated that the risk of toxoplasmosis fetal infection is greater in the third trimester with 60-65%, and the severe consequences is the loss of vision.
