PLAGIARISM DETECTION

Authors wishing to publish in The Universidad, Ciencia y Tecnología journal must comply with the ethical norms of research and cite the data sources used figures, and all information explicitly and clearly. Software such as Grammarly, Plagium, Copionic, WriteCheck, PaperRater, Plagarisma.net, Viper Plagiarism Scanner, or CrossCheck. It will be used to check for originality, plagiarism, and duplicity.

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS:

1. If a manuscript has already been published in another publisher originally

In the case of manuscripts already published, the Universidad, Ciencia y Tecnología journal will immediately remove from the platform those articles published in other journals or those that present complaints of plagiarism or that the editorial body identifies with this condition. Authors will be informed of this procedure without the right to reply by the authors.

2. On the extent of ethically permitted copied material

Only 10% of copied material will be allowed after a review of the plagiarism report issued by the software and with the necessary exceptions.

3. On the decisions made when plagiarism is determined in a manuscript

If there is evidence of plagiarism in the manuscript above what is allowed, the work will be withdrawn immediately. If it has not been published, it will be immediately rejected without the right to publish it with revisions.

4. About the procedure for informing the authors

In the case of detecting plagiarism in work, the authors will be informed immediately, taking into account the necessary reservations and discretions of the case. A letter will be issued explaining the reasons that justify the rejection and non-publication of the work and will include the aspects related to plagiarism.

5. On the right to reply and legal instances

Suppose the treatment of plagiarism given by the academic and editorial committee of the journal is not well received. In that case, we will proceed to the legal review of the documents involved before the competent authorities, Article 122 of the Venezuelan Copyright Law, and Article 188 of the Ecuadorian Penal Code.
