Abstract

Müllerian congenital malformations are a clinical entity of relevance, more significant in patients who are of reproductive age. There are multiple technological advances that contribute to the imaging diagnosis of malformations, ranging from simple to complex, with the aim of offering the best treatment. The septate uterus is the most common uterine malformation among congenital anomalies of the uterus, which accounts for 30-50% of cases, followed by the bicorne and unicorne uterus. A clinical case report of a total septate diagnosed during a caesarean section was performed, presenting presentation dystocia and moderate oligoamnios. The objective of the case report is to show the obstetric prognosis in fertile women who carry this uterine malformation, the importance of screening for uterine malformations during pregnancy and to recognize the findings of the physical and ultrasound examination suggestive of septate uterus. A brief description of the main gyneco-obstetric history of the patients was made, with a detailed description of the physical examination and the surgical findings. It is concluded that the septate uterus is a rare congenital malformation, difficult to diagnose and the association of a term pregnancy with this malformation is considered very rare in the medical literature.
