Abstract

The following work presents an exploratory research focused on the analysis of generational factors that influence the sustainability of the family micro-enterprise. The importance of the co-existence of family businesses in all sectors of a given region is evaluated as an important act for the national economy. Their permanence and sustainability are important within the markets in which they are developed. Visual Basic aplication (VBA) was used to tabulate the data obtained through the techniques and information gathering instruments. The methodology applied allowed the knowledge of the limited professionalization of the members of the company. The results also indicate the existence of gaps between generational administrations in a traditional way and descendants that lead according to the demands of the digital age. The factors enunciated jointly with others become risks for the sustainability of the companies. These organizations have a high probability of not remaining in time but adopt the process of professionalization of its members. There is no succession plan or documented management model that guides the members of the family group that make up the company; concluding that the lack of strategies defined from the conception of a family business, can affect the following generational changes of succession of power, affecting their own success.
