Abstract
Through music we can learn about the cultural and traditional aspects, ways of life, the thought and feeling transmitted by the generations of each people or nation. This article aims to look at some factors that respond to why Ecuadorian music is less and less adept among young people, especially in the coastal region, many foreign rhythms and dances such as reggaeton, bachata, imitation of unique movements gain space in new generations, confirming that we are in a crisis of traditional and popular cultural identity. The discussion arises in whether we move towards the phasing out of cultural differences between the peoples of the world. In conclusion, there is the need to review other experiences and consider recovering the cultural identity of Ecuadorian music.
