Abstract

An adequate nutritional status in childhood guarantees the quality of future life. The present cross-sectional, descriptive study evaluated the nutritional status of a sample for the convenience of 91 preschoolers of the Children's Center of Good Living "Cesar Molina" of Azogues, for this purpose used the body mass index for age and type of milk feeding of the first year of life and family dietary data obtained through a dietary survey applied to preschool tutors. The main results indicate that 46% are at risk of being overweight and overweight, within the 1-year group, 50% are underweight and 48% are at risk of being overweight, in the 2-year group, 53% are overweight, 98% received exclusive maternal activity, of which 86% are overweight, 50% of those who received breastfeeding up to 9 months are underweight and 33% overweight, 10% of those who breastfeed up to 1 year are overweight , 84% of those who take breastfeeding are overweight, the family food pattern is unhealthy.
