Abstract

The main objective is to identify the workload and its relationship to anxiety in caregivers of people with severe disabilities in the canton Azogues. A quantitative, cross-cutting, descriptive and co-relational study was conducted with 150 caregivers of people with severe disabilities. A questionnaire was given zarit's caregiver overload scale and Goldberg's anxiety scale. The profile of the population studied was characterized by: average age 41 years, female sex (89%), degree of mother kinship (59%), married marital status (59%), primary education (79%), rural residence (73%), care for people with severe intellectual disabilities (64,7 %). 38.6% had labor overload and 100% revealed anxiety, medium and high level at 78.7%. High ratio 0.630 (p<0.001) was found between labor overload and anxiety.
