CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, A FOCUS FROM STAKEHOLDERS IN THE ECUADORIAN BANANA SECTOR

Abstract

Organizations are increasingly involved in achieving adequate behavior towards society, not only in their own activities, but also in facing their responsibilities towards stakeholders. The objective of the research is to analyze the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from a stakeholder approach in the banana sector. For the research process methods are applied in the modality: bibliographic and field. In the field modality one works with the banana plantations of the Ecuadorian coast, which allows a direct contact with the object of practical study and its main actors. The data was taken intentionally and taken into account 110 banana growing companies. A questionnaire is proposed where eight factors that are part of the Stakeholders are established, in correspondence with what is established in the ISO 26000 norms and the principles established in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The results obtained from the investigation allow us to conclude that in the banana sector there is still a gap over CSR, and interest groups such as Stakeholders, and waste management is deficient with its direct impact on the environment.
