Abstract
This study sought to analyze the motor vehicle manufacturing sector ISIC 29 and 30, especially when it is known that this sector is very important for Ecuador's economy and generates direct employment. For this study we used the variables motor vehicle imports, import VAT and annual sales. Descriptive statistics were used, using the Vector Autoregressive [VAR] econometric method to verify the incidence of the variables and possible shocks. It was shown that the sales and VAT variable have a good predictive fit, influencing the imports of motor vehicles; thus, the analysis shows a high degree of commercialization of cars and motorcycles in large cities, denoting the great importance of this industry for the economy and on the other hand, evidencing the great dependence on importing goods, which affects the Ecuadorian industry, which does not evolve.
